Militärische Treibhausgase nicht länger von Klimaabkommen ausschließen!

Während der Verhandlungen über das Kyoto-Abkommen von 1997 wurden aufgrund von Forderungen der US-Regierung in letzter Minute die militärischen Treibhausgasemissionen von den Klimaverhandlungen ausgenommen. Diese Tradition hat sich fortgesetzt.
Das Pariser Abkommen von 2015 überließ die Reduzierung der militärischen Treibhausgasemissionen dem Ermessen der einzelnen Nationen.
Das Rahmenübereinkommen der Vereinten Nationen über Klimaänderungen verpflichtet die unterzeichneten Staaten, ihre jährlichen Treibhausgasemissionen zu veröffentlichen, aber die Berichterstattung über militärische Emissionen ist freiwillig und wird oft nicht berücksichtigt.
Die NATO hat das Problem zwar erkannt, aber keine spezifischen Anforderungen zu dessen Lösung aufgestellt.
Es gibt keine vernünftige Grundlage für diese klaffende Lücke. Krieg und Kriegsvorbereitungen sind große Verursacher von Treibhausgasemissionen. ALLE Treibhausgasemissionen müssen in die verbindlichen Normen zur Reduzierung der Treibhausgasemissionen einbezogen werden. Es darf keine Ausnahmen mehr für militärische Verschmutzung geben.
Wir fordern die COP26 auf, strenge Grenzwerte für Treibhausgasemissionen festzulegen, die keine Ausnahmen für den Militarismus vorsehen, transparente Berichterstattungspflichten und eine unabhängige Überprüfung vorsehen und sich nicht auf Systeme zum „Ausgleich“ von Emissionen stützen. Die Treibhausgasemissionen der Militärstützpunkte eines Landes in Übersee müssen vollständig gemeldet und dem betreffenden Land in Rechnung gestellt werden, nicht dem Land, in dem sich der Stützpunkt befindet.

Das war’s. Das ist der Grundgedanke: die größte Form der Klimazerstörung in den meisten Ländern in die Vereinbarungen einzubeziehen, mit denen sie vorgeben, die Klimazerstörung zu reduzieren. Das ist keine Raketenwissenschaft, auch wenn es dazu führen könnte, dass einige Mittel aus der Raketenwissenschaft abgezogen werden.
Aber wir haben es hier mit nebulösen Fakten zu tun. Fakten, die durchaus vorhanden sind, aber scheinbar kein nennenswerter Prozentsatz der Menschen davon erfährt.
Wir haben ein paar Ideen, wie wir dieses Problem lösen können.
Eine davon ist, die Petition und all unsere Energie und Kreativität nach Glasgow zur COP26-Konferenz zu bringen, zusammen mit der außergewöhnlichen Organisation CODEPINK, die für Aufmerksamkeit sorgt.
Eine andere Möglichkeit ist, das Gleiche für die COP26-Vorveranstaltungen umzusetzen, die sehr bald in Mailand, Italien, stattfinden.
Eine weitere Möglichkeit ist folgende: Wir ermutigen Gruppen und Einzelpersonen, Veranstaltungen zu organisieren, um diese Botschaft zu verbreiten, wo auch immer Ihr euch auf der Welt am oder um den großen Aktionstag in Glasgow am 6.
